Audio for Flash

Postby bender on Mon Feb 25, 2008 2:35 pm

I'm working on another Flash based interactive at the moment and I'm wondering about other peoples experiences with file types and in particular data compression for Flash. Mostly I've been delivering 160bit 44.1kHz Wav or AIF files and letting the Flash guys handle the final output, but I've been getting increaingly frustrated with the final product. Usually they use nasty compression rates or convert to MP3 and then my nice smooth loops end up with a click on the transition.

I guess what I'm asking is:
What's a good way to output for Flash where I can control the compression rate and be certain that there are no clicks introduced while reducing files to an acceptable size?

Use mp3s. 128k or more depending on the material.
And tell the flash guys not to override sound settings.
